History:
The universe is Andromeda. It’s been colonized and made livable by humans (originally from Earth) as they terraformed their way across the galaxy (as we know it now). Because of draining resources and the eventual invasion of the Milky Way by outsiders around the year 2330, people made their escape to Andromeda. After years of struggling and depending on the kindness of other sentient life forms, the human race still lives on—sort of.

The year is 2866. Ivor is born in the slums of the fifth settlement of the ninth colony in the second quadrant of Andromeda ( 2-9-5 ) to a family who doesn’t want him, a family he never gets to know before they left him to the mercy of the streets. He is also born mute. He grows up in the dirtiest parts of 2-9-5 with only the other abandoned kids and homeless for company, and somehow, he managed to survive without much help, picking up on several different things rather quickly despite his lack of connections or education. With a knack for electronics, Ivor scrapes by with what little money that earns him, and the cycle repeats until he’s caught by the government a few months after his sixteenth birthday and “reaped” to feed the creatures that live deep in the Halo of Andromeda they call sirens. (On the outside, this is actually considered an honor and many families volunteer their children to be part of it; however, some, like Ivor, don’t actually have a choice.) The year is 2882.

• 12.2882 : Ivor and Cae meet on the ship outbound to the Halo.

• 1.2883 : Approaching the Halo, Ivor and Cae make their escape with a pod commandeered by Ivor. A few days after, they stumble upon an abandoned station, which is a huge mistake because they’re actually in the Halo and not somewhere remotely safe. Unfortunately, the escape pod breaks down, and less concerned about finding supplies that they need, Ivor devises a plan to find parts (with Cae’s help), so they can leave. While doing so, Cae falls through a dilapidated area of the station and discovers that some of the sirens nest there. He becomes infected. Ivor makes some repairs and they once again escape; through this entire ordeal, Cae doesn’t mention anything to Ivor about what happened to him back on the station.

• 2.2883 : The boys make it to some rundown colony on the outskirts of the Halo, and now, Ivor and Cae need to lay low since the people they originally escaped from are looking for them. Ivor teaches Cae how to blend in and survive on the streets so they can get back to Cae’s settlement and take back his parents’ money since he’s of age to have it.

• 3.2883 : They begin to travel from settlement to settlement by hitching rides and doing odd jobs for money, and along the way, Ivor learns that Cae had become infected several months ago. Rather than leave him, which had been Cae’s original thought behind not telling him, Ivor tries to figure out a plan to save him. Which is a shot in the dark since he knows nothing about sirens. Cae begins to show more signs that something is wrong with him as they move, losing focus as well as his appetite. He gets sick when he does eat something, and Ivor spends a lot more time “working” to provide for them. At a random stop, Ivor is caught by some men after the bounty on them, and to save him, Cae kills them after losing control of his siren side. Now, in better shape after “feeding”, he gets Ivor to safety, and after a couple of days, Cae decides he is the one who needs to leave to keep Ivor “safe”.

The next three years are spent traversing the depths of Andromeda looking for the person Ivor considers his best friend. He does a lot of unsavory things to keep going, alway one step behind where he last hears someone might have seen Cae—or who he thinks is Cae. It isn’t until by accident that he catches up to him, and his original plan to save Cae from the sickness that’s overtaking him has never been more important to him. The year is now 2886.

Things to note: Day = 30 hours, Week = 10 days, 1 cycle = 3 weeks, 12 cycles year.

Personality:
Ivor is a relatively passive sort of person. He's calm and collected in most situations—more so than the average teenager. So, it isn’t a surprise to see him with a typically solemn expression on most days, though this may be an old habit he’d picked up as a child and hasn’t entirely grown out of. Having grown up in the slums of a backwater space colony, he had to learn to adapt to different situations in order to survive and doesn't like relying on others; usually, it means they want something Ivor doesn't want to give. Still, that doesn’t mean he isn’t willing to work with others towards a common goal, and it doesn’t necessarily mean he has to benefit from it either. Some might say he’s kinder in that aspect since he isn’t going to ask for something in return if he is asked for help.

He tends to make friends easily but may seem difficult to approach if he isn't the one to initiate contact. This is also a consequence of growing up somewhat isolated in the colony, though some people might say it’s because of the disadvantage he had without being able to physically speak. Still, Ivor has never once seen that as a disadvantage; he may be quiet, but he isn’t silent. With that in mind, it’s easy to see that Ivor is smart, especially when it comes to forming plans and is rather tactically inclined; however, any potential he might have had to extend those skills is cut short by his upbringing. He has no formal education, aside from whatever he could learn from those around him, but he does pick up on things quickly if they are language or number-related. Because of this, he has some skill with electronics and taking them apart to rewire them. If given time, he could probably replicate a lot of functional machines; yet, there has never been time to actually follow through with this.

However many good qualities Ivor has, there are a few that lay buried beneath the surface that aren’t quite as “nice”. His fierce loyalty might seem like a good trait, but it makes him incredibly stubborn. (This is why he followed the only real friend he had in the entire universe across said universe for three years without stopping.) That stubbornness might come off as him being a bit of a dick, which is unfortunate because he’s generally a nice person and tries to do the right thing. Or, at the very least, what is right by necessity.

As a note, Ivor also likes to observe others and his surroundings very thoroughly before making any general assumptions or preemptive decisions.

Abilities/Skills:
• picks up languages quickly (pre-installed with sign)
• likes numbers
• good with tech he can also drive a spaceship???
• will kill a person without hesitation (if need be)
